Yesterday I went over to my Grandma's House and my cousin got himself a walk-in dog a couple of days ago. He name him Jacky. Silly me I was so terrified of the little puppy. He's however quite docile, don't bark and quite playful. Later Jacky was making noise, guess he was a bit thirty gave him water, which he drank. But then he started splashing water on himself, weird right so we thought he must be hot and decided to give him a shower. hehe first time ivan has a pet and also taking responsibility of it.

Amanda N Steve Setera's Wedding Sept 2, 2006

The wedding dinner was held at Top Hats on Jln Kia Peng. Nice little restaurant plus after the dinner...performance by a live jazz band. We all had fun at the wedding. I was very blessed and honoured to be sitting at the same table as the Lamas. Also, first time having a vegetarian fine dinning dinner.

Chief Rev K. Sri Dhammananda

After our Karaoke Session got a message from Alvin that Chief Rev has passed away peacefully at SJMC at 12.42pm. The first thing that came to mind is that he no longer has to suffer. Free from suffering and the good thing is that he choosed a good day to leaves us too. 31st August 2006 - MERDEKA DAY!

Rev Dhammananda was born on March 18, 1919, in southern Sri Lanka. He came to Malaya on Jan 2, 1952, to administer to the needs of the Buddhist community here. I feel very blessed that I had a chance to learn buddhist teaching from him even though it was only for 3 years. He has thought us so much about the Dhamma and the Buddhist way of life. Even though I call myself a Buddhist but I don't really know what it means to be a Buddhist. His teaching has tought me to practise more loving kindness, patience and understanding of Buddhism. Will definately miss his Dhamma Talks on Fridays, we managed to catch his last talk couple of months back which was really touching and inspriring too.

Yesterday after our dinner, we stop by the Mahavihara Temple in Brickfields to pay our last respect to the Chief. May he rest in peace and may he be well and happy.

Karaoke Merdeka Celebration

Since Tracy is back here on holiday...we decided to go on a Karaoke Trip. QL, Tracy, PL and I went. We had a blast singing our hearts out. We went during the K-Lunch special. Quite affordable RM12.00 from 11am-2pm. Its cool cause you get food and the best of all sing sing sing. Sang English, Chinese, Malay and Japanese Songs. We put in so many songs that we were unable to sing them all, we had almost 30 songs left on cue but sad to say they turned it off "nomoreadi".

After our Karaoke Session, we head on back over to my place where we swam in the pool till it rained on us. We did some aqua aerobics that's was quite fun. Then dinner at Fukuru in Desa Petaling. PL says I ate so much and ate like a babi hutan. Hehehe me and food :) yummy yummy yummy

TNB Substation "Pow Cha" at Pantai

Woke up was trying to check email and update blog. At around 9am suddenly black out no electricity. I thought it was strange but didn't bother much about it. Was getting ready to go Karaoke with QL and Tracy. As we were leaving the apartment. The neighbour told us that the sub station next to the carpark exploded and caught fire. Would take some time to mend before we got electricity back. Scarry man. Smoke everyone and a very strong burnt smell coming out from the carpark. All the cars were ok. Fireman and security guards were trying to put the fire and controlling traffic in and out of the area. Should have taken pics of what happen but was rushing out so i didn't.

When we got back later, electricity was restored with mobile gen sets. Thank got for back up gen sets. Don't know how long it would take to repair the damage. I must say that TNB quiet the efficient. And on behalf of all of us here at Pantai...Thank you!

Happy Merdeka Day!!!

Malaysia is now 49 years old. Yeah!!! Merdeka!!!Merdeka!!! Merdeka!!!

Last night while watching the live telecast of the Merdeka Celebration I was so embarassed and sad. We are supposed to be proud of Malaysia and for what it has acheived but after watching it, it made me more depressed. It really seems like we are moving backwards instead of forward. The performances and shows were not even up to standard, its so sad to see what Malaysia has sucome too. I did however get to see loads of fireworks from parts of Klang Valley from my apartment, especially from Genting Highlands.

I really love this country, the food is the best...can't help it but I'm a big food lover, love to eat. Then the unity, peace and harmony of this country. I believe that we can be a better nation and we have great potential to world class but lots needs to be done. No matter what, I still have hope that we will continue to grow and better developed nation.

Afternoon Tea at Delicious

I had tea with my friend Chan at Delicious. He got me a nice gift...chocolates. Nicely wrap in a box so sweet. We had Lemon Meringue Pie, Scones, Coffee and Tea. It's really nice to be appreciated by friends. Life is short, so we need to enjoy the little things in life more and cherish all our loves ones and friends.

Phuket Island - Family Trip 2006

Last minute trip to Phuket even though it was raining most of the time turn out to be a fun trip. First time flying out of the new low cost airport by air asia, looks kinda like a big warehouse or gudang. Surprisingly we didn't have much delay only 15 mins. We all had nasi lemak on the plane...RM 12.00 per box (nasi lemak, tea and free kit kat). By the time we got into Phuket it was evening. After checking into the hotel in Allamanda Phuket Laguna, we went not island hoping but hotel hoping around the resort. Seeing that we were in Thailand, we all wanted to eat authentic Thai Cuisine and ended up at Ruen Thai in Dusit Laguna for dinner. In this resort, there's many hotels and one of the best one was Banyan Tree Phuket. Lovely decor, very zenish reminds me of Datai in Langkawi. I like Dusit the best...nice beach front.

The next morning, after the rain we hop onto to the free shuttle and headed onto Laguna Beach. Only got to spend 15 mins on the beach before the storm came in and we got more rain. Next we decided to rent a car to see the Phuket, I've been here before but that was like 10 years ago. I guess alot has changed since then. We got a VIOS and I drove while Leona navigated. We stop at Tesco to buy some grocery for breakfast and then had lunch there. Next we went to the mall called Central Festival. Huge mall probably like 1 Utama minus new wing. Next we went to Wat Chalong the famous temple there. The most strking thing is that they were putting firecrackers into this little hut, offering by devotees. So QL, got one small one for 30 baht and it was cool. The atmosphere plus the smell of firecrackers really reminded us of chinese new year and how much we miss the them.

It was really nice to drive around the island, we passed by Kata Beach, Patong (Tsunami Area) now all newly rebuild. Looks alot like Gurney Drive in Penang, beach also looks the same and the shops reminds me so much of Petaling Street. Cheaper in KL everything here so expensive. While driving up to Kamala beach, pass by the Tsunami Monument Burial Ground.

Had dinner at Pan Yaah, another seafood place...lovely food too. We all love fell in love with the Tom Yam Soup. Vicky who didnt like Thai food was enjoying her dinner.
I think the best attraction of our trip was the trip to Phuket Fantasea. Mini Disneyland plus Las Vegas Shows. Got there at 7.15pm collected out tickets and proceed inside this fantasy land. Shops all around selling souvenirs and gifts. There also elephant ride and feeding the elephants too. I was so scared but managed to go close and feed them bananas and sugar canes. Show started at 9pm before that we all had to surrender our cameras and phones before entering the main theater. The show was FANTASTICO!!! Really had a wonderful time.

The next day, still rainin so our plans to go to the beach was very much out of the question. So we decided to head back to Patong, this time to get some Thai Massage and do some shopping before we leave.

We checked out at 2 pm and our taxi driver came to take us to the airport. Arrived back home safely at 6.15 pm. We all had fun, next year got to plan and see where we'llo go off too next.

My New Laptop - M5N Asus Notebook

After a research and contemplation plus looking high and low at low yatt plaze on sunday, I've decided to get the M5N Asus Notebook. It's pearl white in color like the ibook. Great features: 1GB DDR2 RAM, 60 GB HDD, DVD Rewritable Drive, 1.55KG, 12.1in TFT, WIFI plus card reader. Standard features. The thing I like about it is white in color, small, compact and light.

The frustrating this is that I planned to get it during the PC Fair but was not able to do so. So when right after that to Low yatt the following week, no stock so weird. The whole of low yatt dont have so upsetting. The next day my good friend Suresh called me to notify me that Low yatt is having a notebook sale starting on Mon till end of the month and the notebook that I was eyeing on is on sale. Guess where??? Low yatt of course. Man this time, rush down to town got and came back home. Got a really good deal on it too. Am really happy to have gotten it at last.

James & Dai's Wedding 12-8-06

A week after their wedding in San Jose, my good buddy James is back here to throw his Malaysian style wedding. I can't believe that he's "married" now. But I'm really happy for the both of them. They are such a compatible and lovely couple. May you guys grow old and happy together. Am really looking forward to seeing the new addition soon to the list. Dinner was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in town (Old KL Hilton), 30th floor...all the way on the top. Food was great. We all had a splendid time. Was great to meet up with Yin Min who came all the way from Belfast to attend the wedding. Haven't seen him for such a long time, I hardly recognize him. Today outside my mom's house, the sky was very colourful. Have not really seen good sunsets in town only in near the beaches. But today's one was really nice.

Hehehe Philip bought flowers for me :) But they were all raw roses. I had to de-thorn them and try my bit at flower arranging. Not too for my first attempt. Whatcha think?

Coping with Depression

I went for a Dharma Talk last Friday at the Mahavihara Temple in Brickfields. Dr. Phang a Psychologist was the guest speaker. He talked about Depression and ways to cope with it. If you're suffering from Depression or think that you are, you're not alone. After his talk, it seems that the ratio for us to get depression is quite high. So you're not alone.

Signs and symptoms

• Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" mood
• Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
• Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness
• Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed, including sex
• Decreased energy, fatigue, being "slowed down"
• Difficulty concentrating, remembering, making decisions
• Insomnia, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping
• Appetite and/or weight loss or overeating and weight gain
• Thoughts of death or suicide; suicide attempts
• Restlessness, irritability
• Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain

These are some of the ways depressioners think (using Cognitive Models)

1. Overgeneralization of things and events
2. Castrophic Thinking - to project the worst of the future
3. Dicothamus Thinking - black or white thinking, good or bad
4. Personalization - finding fault with oneself, low self esteem
5. Absolute Thinking - the MUST philosophy

Coping with Depression

The trick here is to identify these thoughts and replace it with happy ones.
The common trades of these types of thinking are finding fault, dissatisfaction and discontentment. Contentment is the greatest wealth next to health.

Dr. Phang had a good suggestion to help us deal with our depression. He has suggested that we keep a diary of our joys and happiness. It is good practice to write down our contentment as an exercise. I have tried it and it works wonders. Whenever you feel unhappy, sad, down or low take it and read it. It helps me reflect on my life and always makes me feel better with what I have accomplished so far in my life. No one is perfect and I’m not perfect but I must always give my very best.

Guidelines for Unconditional Contentment Exercise.

1. To be grateful for the things that didn’t go wrong. Things that you have taken for grated e.g. our health. We should be thankful and grateful to be able to eat, sleep and eliminate without any major illness or problems. So we should treasure it.
2. Be grateful for the things that went right. We should rejoice on our success, achievements and things that have gone right for us. We shouldn’t condemn and complain all the time. Be thankful and grateful.
3. Be grateful for things that went wrong. All of us here learn most from mistake and hardship in our lives. We grow stronger and last longer in life. That’s how we grow to be a better person in whatever we do. Be it school, college, university, work, family and life.

Here’s a beautiful story that has touch my heart and I hope it touches you too.

The story of the Professor and the Butterflies.

This Professor studies butterflies and has over 100 observations done on process how butterflies come out of a cocoon. Conclusion of his study shows that to come out from the cocoon is a very difficult process. The butterflies would have to struggle to get their way out. To make it easier for the butterflies, the Professor has help to make a small cut of the opening of the cocoon so that they don’t have to struggle so hard and it’s easier to come out. But soon after the come out they fall of from their cocoon and die. Why?

The answer: A butterfly has to go thru this process, it has to squeeze thru to get the blood to flow to the wing and also to drain the fluid out from the wing so that once it comes out its wing is dry and it can fly. It is very necessary for it survival.

Therefore the hardship we go thru life, can transform us to grow better and stronger.

I know my English is not that powderful but I hope you understand the story and meaning behind it. Last but not least, DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY!

This new brand sound like Nine West its from S'pore with Italian design. So far their range of shoes compared to Vincci are much more stylish and intersting. Quite a famous brand in S'pore especially in Takashimaya.

My Plant Part 2 :P

My plants have been growing wild lately...flowering like crazy. Lots of new babies popping out. Am glad that's it growing really well. I have another 3 small pots growing as well and they seem to be doing ok. Need more baja then they will grow up healthily. If you look closely those thingy at the edge are babies. Plus they have grown by many layers since I first got them.

Malaysia MEGA SALE Carnival

The Mega Sale Carnival started today. Mandy and I went to KLCC today. Isetan and Parkson member day sale. Spent quite some time at the Bobbi Brown counter. Coudn't decide what to buy but finally got it down. Hehehe got nice free gift cause I spent more than $350. A pouch, lip gloss, lipstick and face cream plus $40 dollars isetan voucher. Very tai man. So many things to see and buy. Everyone was going around like busy bees. Guess had 50% off on their bags and all the ladies were grabbing them all. One lady said better not buy, later all got the same bag only. Same goes for MNG clothes, now everyone is wearing the same stuff...so boria man.

Next off to Parkson, was actually looking for a swavorski giraffe pendant. Damn nice man $205. Hint Hint if anyone wants to get me a birthday gift this would be nice :P Wanted to buy it but saw shoes from JWest and since it matches my Coach Peony bag. I had to get them shoes. Use me voucher that I got yesterday...so ended up with a real good bargain. I walked out with my new shoes and quite stylist I might add. It's been a while since I shopped for shoes. Vincci shoes not so nice this season, so haven't been buying any.

Next monday KLCC having a 3 hour mad rush. Over 90 stores will be participating and up to 80% off. I guess if you're free and have sometime in mind to buy then it will be worth your while to go check it out.

Summer Movies 2006

It's summer time and all the good movies are out. Saw two movies in 2 days back to back. "Superman Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean II" Interesting plot and story. I still think the old superman looks more handsome. The bad thing is I can hardly remember the old ones unless you're a real superman fan then you would know. The soundtrack to superman still rocks man. I really like that they kept the old stuff and make it new. As for me, I just enjoy watching movies but my HD can't really store so much info. Must go find the old ones and watch then the movie will make more sense. Same goes for the Pirates of the Caribbean. They seem to bring back lots of old characters from previous movie. Can't seem to remember them...whether they good, evil or what's their story. hehehehe getting old already memory also lacking already. Need new processor :P But overall I would give them both a 7 out of 10.

Last week saw Fast and Furious - Tokyo Drift. Story was ok lah, the only cool its the chicks and the cars. Hahahaha talking about CARS the Disney Pixar movie is Da Bomb man. Really love it!!! Hands down to Pixar for their creativity. I guess that's all from me. Over and out!

Jin Wei's Birthday Party

Ok no more sad stuff, happy happy stuff. Both Phil and I were invited to have dinner with his friend Kean Choon, wife Celyn and son Jin Wei. Kim Lee also join us for dinner. I thought it was a simple dinner but turns out to be a Birthday Party Dinner. Not surpirse to the birthday boy but to us. I feel really bad for not knowing and worst didn't buy him a gift. I like the toy that Quant Lynn bought the tiger torch light. Maybe I'll get it for him. I think he will definately like..rrrrrrrr

My Uncle Albert Lee

Lately, the past few months has been quite upsetting and depressing. I didn't mean for it to happen that way but I just realize that I have been blogging a lot of death on my page. Can't help it as lately there's been quite a number of death in my family.

My uncle Albert Lee a great father, grandfather and uncle who has passed away on July 1st. I received a call from my Tai Yee while at the seminar that afternoon that he had just passed away. She was in shocked and didn't know what to do. Had informed both my mom and AJ. They left right away to help. He was supposed to join me and my downlines later that evening for our Shuang Hor Family Bowling Event. He really loves to bowl and every year at CNY we would all go bowling.

He's also a big Elvis Presley fan and loves to sing karaoke. We always call him "Mr. Safety" as he's always so cautious of things happening around him. Always reminding us to be all cautious too. Both my family and I will definitely miss him dearly. I could not attend his funeral as I was teaching at the UNHCR that morning. They choosed a really good day for him, July 4th (US Independence Day), easy to remember. May he rest in peace and may God be with you.

It's beginning to look brigther and sunnier now been raining alot. I'm actually feeling much better from yesterday shock. Had already accepted that the pictures cannot be save no more. Delete!!!!

Man I was so excited with the photo's taken yesterday that I was uploading them. Guess what happen I was looking for the folder to save it in and I deleted all my photo in the folder. All my photo's that I have taken for the past 2-3 years. All my trip photos, all gone!!! Am really shock and appauled with what I have done. I couldn't breath and I think that my heart actually stop beating for a while. Right after that I could feel my whole body shaking and numbness all over my limbs. How could i be so careless and down right stupid? What was I thinking? Am really upset wtih myself now. Just shock!!! T_T

Today is also World Refugee Day, a very special day indeed. Last year, I remember I was invited to attend World Refugee Day Celebrations at the Parlimet. This year the UNHCR organized a wonderful Carnival event for the refugees. Although it was pouring quite heavily and the grounds were muddy, that didn't stop them from having fun. Angela and I volunteer to do some face and nail painting for the kids. We had tonnes of fun. I must say that Angela is quite an artist :) Here's some pics I took...slide show for all to see.



I am very honoured and privilage to be able to join in the celebration. I have been working as a volunteer teacher at the UNHCR for the past 2 years. And I'm really glad that I had the opportunity teach and work with the refugees from Acheh and Myanmar. It's really rewarding to see the students learning and enjoying themselves. The pains and turbulence they go thru to get here its very commendable. I don't think that I'm as brave and daring as them. This year theme is "HOPE", I really hope the best for them and that they will be able to seek haven soon.

In the end, I came home with lots of photo shots with my students and a ballon hat that didn't really fit well on my head. Angela says I've got a big head hehehehehe......

World Cup Fever 2006

The World Cup is here again. Although I'm not a really big fan of football, I'm kinda sucked in to watch it. Rowdy neighbours cheering on their team every single time a goal is scored, makes you wanna get in and watch it too. It's really amazing how much the craze has catched on.

Just struck me that it's been 4 years since my dad past away. The last World Cup he was routing for Germany to win. Can't remember if he finished watching the game or not. He's a really big fan of football too. How time flies!!!!

This year, saw the first game Germany vs Costa Rica, very fast pace and intersting game. Didn't finish watching at all. My eyes couldn't take it. Next day, was excited cause England was playig against Paraguay. Seeing that I follow the English Premier League at times, kinda know the players makes it more interesting unfortunately, it was the most boring game I've ever seen. Super duper!!! So dissapointed... didn't watch any games yesterday but I heard it was good. Both USA & Japan lost. Today I saw, Korea vs Tongo and boy oh boy was it an exhilarating game. Me routing for Korea of course seeing that I used to worked for korean company. And they did really well, beat Tongo 2-1 =)

Well, hope to stay up to watch Brazil but I'm guessing I'll catch the repeat. My eyes are getting really sleepy now. My eye bags are getting worst as I've been deprived of my beauty sleep.....hehehe. Aren't we all? Haven't done much over the weekend like everyone else, been busy watching the world cup.

Dedicated to my dear friend Bahrman

A great man, teacher and a good friend. I was really shocked to hear that he's no longer with us anymore. He passed away peacefully on June 10, 2006. He's now together with Kak Ana.

We had so many fond memories of our trip last year in Mabul. Was looking forward to dive again there this year. How things change in such a short period of time.

I will always remember him as a very happy person with great passions in life.

My dear friend you will be miss by all. May you find peace and happiness.

Jaden Yuen Zhen Han Full Moon

Yesterday was my nephew Jaden's Full Moon. He's already one month old. He looks exactly like Ryan when he was a little baby. His brother Ryan and cousin sister Samantha was there too. Kids running around and I was chasing after them with the camera. Was fortunate to have found an upcoming model who was willing to pose for me. She's none other than our little Sammy. They are so cute at this stage. For those who miss the dinner, here are some pictures of the event. Mostly the babies :P especially my cute model.

Grease the Musical 18-5-06

Bought tickets a while back, got some great discount being a maxis one club member. Got there on time had dinner at the food court of KLCC Convention Center. My first time there, must check out aquaria next. It looks real nice. Got great seats for the show center row upstairs. We had a very interesting show. One aunty sat in front of us having a ball, dancing and singing along with the cast. More fun watching her than the musical. I was rather dissapointed as the singers weren't all that good. The singing was rather lousy, didnt quite enjoy it that much. I have seen better musical. Pygmillion the local musical at KL Perfoming Center was much better.

Cactus

My mom gave me this plant she got from a friend. Just a tiny little cactus plant but it has grown so big and huge that I need new pots and trays now. Its been blossoming like crazy with new babies everyday. I guess I've been feeding too much "Lingzhi Lu Chun Cha" and its growing wild now. I can soon start my own nursery and sell them and make some money. Here's a picture of the plant now. Big leh!!!

Perhentian 2006

My first time to this beautiful island although a last minute decision am glad to have gone. The trip there was rather long. The trip took us about 10 hours to get there from KL. Took the "Mahligai" which left at 9 and reach Kuala Besut around 6am. Then had breakfast while waiting for our boat to arrive. Had some confusion with the accomodation but got it sorted out. Finally after 30 mins of boat ride we reach the big island. Long beach located on the small island is rather roudy more for youngster and party goers. Got pubs, bars and disco. Big island more family style, quite and peaceful.


We stayed at Watercolours Resort. The little hut not too bad have your own toilet, no ac just fan. There's also lots of lizards....me hate them. There was however a big "cicak kubing" right outside our room. Scary. Food at the resort was rather expensive and not nice. Better place to eat is at Coral Bay or Mama's, cheap and good.


After a nap, we took a walk along the beach front and looked for dive places. Finally, decided to go diving with Yakub and Tim at Turtle Bay Divers. First dive, in the afternoon we all went to the Pinnacle. It's been a while since I dive and had a panic attacked while I was hovering waiting for the rest to decend. Pleuni had trouble equalizing and therefore we waited a while for her. Both of us didn't complete our dive. The other two guys saw bat fishes which I wanted to see but didn't get too. Anyhow, later the dive master took me out again this time to Batu Nisan to get use to being underwater again. This time saw lots of fishy and rays.

Next day we went out to D'Lagoon and Tanjung Basi. More rays, cleaner shrimp, rabbitfish and eels. On the third day, we dived at North Point and T3 (Terumbu Tiga), finally saw my batfish. What excited me was the school of yellow tail barracuda and bumphead parrotfish - shitted. Overall, the fishy was not as many as Sipadan but it was fun. Most of the corals are dying and it's quite sad. No turtles!!! T_T Tim our dive master born in England but living in Australia. He's really nice and has lots of patience. Yakub on the other hand, is a real funny guy. I was told never to believe what he says coz he tends to exagerate.


He took me hiking from Turtle bay to the back of the island and back. Scary, scary scary as the jungle was dark and spooky glad to make it out there alive. We also met a nice couple from France, she's a politician in south of france near Marseille, Millau I think. The city with the Viaduct Bridge. It was nice to get away and spend time with my hunny.
